Happy New Year CPL Ballers...

We got very busy towards the end of the year and didn't get to provide you with the following updates before we had a break. Better late than never:
a) All-Star Weekend. Thank you to all the players, supporters and volunteers. The games were played in the right spirit and fun was had by all. This was indeed an enjoyable day and night (after party).
b) Piss for Piss. We had 41 participants. This equates to $410 that will go towards our funds for use by the CPL Social Club Committee, e.g. End of Season Party. The CPL Committee will try to organise another one.
c) Lottery Week. Three Division 2 teams pulled an upset against their Division 1 randomly pitted opponents; this shows how a number of Division 2 teams have really improved this year in comparison to previous seasons. One thing that was noticed was the two vastly different styles of play from both divisions.
d) Big Bang Donation Drive - our biggest haul yet. It really shows how CPL Ballers have big hearts and how we care for the less fortunate.
e) MOvember. As per previous years, the CPL supports players that wish to contribute to their favourite charity. This year, Matthew Goodwin participated in MOvember and as part of his fundraising he asked the committee if he could be rostered to referee some games. Goodie arranged for his referee fees to be donated directly to his MOvember fund. As part of CPL's commitment to good charities and our players, we matched dollar per dollar, every donation Goodie gave through his referee fees. Goodie extends his thanks to the CPL Committee, players and individuals that supported him and this great cause.
f) Canberra Classic is happening at the end of this month and the CPL will again be well represented. As per existing tradition, the CPL will put $250 as a bar tab for all those that participate in the after event get together. Any winnings from the CPL teams will also be added to this bar tab. Bragging rights will once again be on the line for all of our teams.
g) The Playoffs are drawing near... some teams will play their last game on 28th of Feb. Don't fret, read on...
h) CPL “Game On” Tournament... that's right! We are going to host an invitation only tournament on March 10-11. This will be attended by interstate teams. More information on this to come.
i) Santa granted a number of ballers wishes this year... the NBA is back... a shorter season... but at least its back. We hope you have enjoyed watching some games over the break.
j) Get rid of those spider webs, our first day back is on Jan 10... see you then!
